WATER CHESTNUTS

Water chestnuts are the edible tubers of a water plant indigenous to Southeast Asia. They are turnip-shaped and have a dark brown skin. Peeling the skin away reveals the white flesh of the water chestnut.

Water chestnuts are crispy, juicy and have a slightly sweet taste. They are used in a wide variety of Asian entrees and stir-fry dishes. They also add a little extra crunch to any salad.
